Most wedding problems are handoff problems. The ceremony musician cannot hear the coordinator, the toast microphone was never tested, the uplights are a different rental that shows up late and nobody knows whose extension cords those are.
Sonar covers sound, lighting and effects as one scope of work. We build the ceremony system and the reception system, we test the microphones your officiant and your father will actually speak into, and we stay through breakdown. On most weddings Danley runs music, lighting and effects while Chris works the room as MC — so the person making announcements is not also the person mixing the next track.
What we handle on a wedding day
Ceremony audio at the ceremony site. Cocktail hour music in a second space when the venue needs it. Introductions, first dance, parent dances, toasts, cake, bouquet and the send-off. Dance-floor lighting and uplighting. Cold sparks or fog for the first dance or the entrance if you want them. Setup before guests arrive and full breakdown after.

Four to six weeks out we build the timeline with you — music for each moment, names pronounced correctly, the do-not-play list.
Event day
We load in early, sound-check before guests arrive, run the night from the timeline, and break down after.

A waterfront estate club on the St. Johns River, with ceremony space outdoors and reception rooms indoors. Outdoor ceremonies there need battery ceremony audio and lapel mics that hold up against wind off the river, and a separate reception system that is set and tested before guests move inside.
Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa
Ponte Vedra Beach
A resort property that runs conferences and weddings in the same week, so load-in windows are tight and the room is often flipped around you. We build to the resort’s schedule, run our own power distribution, and keep the rig clean enough to sit in a photo.
World Golf Village
St. Augustine / St. Johns County
Large ballroom and atrium spaces with high ceilings and long reverb tails. Coverage matters more than volume here: we place speakers for even coverage across the room rather than pushing one loud pair from the front.
Wedding questions we get asked
How far in advance should we book a wedding DJ in Jacksonville?
Most couples book six to twelve months out, and Saturdays between October and May go first — that is peak season here. If your date is inside ninety days, call us rather than filling in the form; we will tell you straight away whether the date is open.
Do you MC as well as DJ?
Yes. Chris handles MC duties on most weddings while Danley runs music, lighting and effects. Having a dedicated MC means announcements, introductions and timeline cues are handled by someone who is not also beat-matching the next song.
Do you cover the ceremony as well as the reception?
Yes, and they are separate systems. Ceremony audio runs on its own speakers and microphones at the ceremony site, and the reception rig is built and sound-checked before guests arrive. See ceremony audio for how we handle outdoor ceremonies.
What happens if something fails mid-reception?
We carry backup on the parts that stop a reception dead: spare wireless microphones, a redundant music source, and spare cabling. Nothing about your night should depend on one device staying alive.
Can our guests request songs?
If you want them to. Every Sonar event gets a code guests can enter at sonarav.com/music-requests to request and upvote songs. You decide beforehand whether requests are on, and we keep the do-not-play list you give us.
Do you travel outside Jacksonville?
Yes — St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra, Amelia Island, Orange Park, Fleming Island and the rest of Northeast Florida are all routine for us. Tell us the venue and we will confirm whether any travel applies.
